BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS
This rousing, inspirational book is beautifully drawn, which is fitting because the story is about an illustrator. Aaron D. Slater loves listening to stories and dreams of writing them one day. Unfortunately, Aaron has trouble when it comes time for him to read independently. The letters just look like squiggles to him. Aaron withdraws into a tangle of feelings as his classmates surpass his reading ability. However, a challenging school assignment leads Aaron to an incredible realization about his unique gifts and how he can tell stories to the world. I'll give you a hint: it involves illustrating. Printed with a dyslexia-friendly font and told through catchy rhymes and vivid language, this empowering story shows a learning disability may inform who you are, but it does not define you.
