In this rhyming yarn, Christmas night is told from the point-of-view of one of Santa's reindeers. You know, the one who comes between Vixen and Cupid in that song. That's right, it's Comet. However, we're not just hanging on roofs with Comet while he waits for Santa to shimmy in and out of chimneys. Comet's doing a little bit of exploring on the job, looking for all the various traps neighborhood kids are setting for reindeer. When people try to trap me, they generally ty to use a pizza box or their mouth. Turns out, these kids have a bunch of wildly creative ways to catch reindeer, including using moss as bait (reindeers love moss) and offering up night-vision goggles (reindeers already have that). As Comet leads us from trap to trap, we wind up learning many interesting facts about reindeer. I love when knowledge is snuck into a good story. It's like i'm learing without even trying. I'm a big fan of not trying! Comet finally makes it back to Santa's sleigh to continue his flying escapades, but not without giving me a new favorite reindeer!
